PEPguard Mouthguard Kit
A performance enhancing mouthguard with posterior Shok Pads to properly place the lower jaw.
Performance Enhancing Benefits
A mouthguard on the cutting edge of technology. The PEPguard Mouthguard is a Performance Enhancing Protection Mouthguard that may increase an athlete's performance, strength and speed by creating space between the upper and lower arch. The arch brings the jaw into a supported rest that helps prevent clenching of teeth and compressing of the jaw.
The PEPguard Mouthguard incorporates our state-of-the-art Self-Impression System (S-IS) with PolyShok Technology to give the ultimate protection, customization and style. With the addition of Shok Pads, it offers the athlete increased performance by properly balancing the bite, improving the inner arch opening 3-4mm and allowing a slight anterior placement.
Scientific studies have shown that Mandibular Orthopedic Repositioning Appliances (MORA), including mouthguards, can improve an athlete's strength, speed and performance. (No mouthguard can guarantee any specific performance improvement.)

Custom Fit For Your Protection
The PEPtrainer Mouthguard is a custom fit, multi-laminated, pressure formed mouthguard utilizing our Self-Impression System (S-IS) to create a dental mold. The result is a mouthguard that offers a better fit and better protection with minimal deformation over the wear period.
Having the ability to customize to an athlete's mouth, our unique design of the PEPtrainer can offer better protection without interfering with breathing or speaking. Made from our patented PolyShok Technology which absorbs over 150% more impact energy than Ethyl Vinyl Acetate (EVA), the material used in other brands of mouthguards, helps reduce the risk injury.
Mouthguard Kit Includes
Each PEPguard Mouthguard Kit includes a mouthguard tray, impression putty, instructions on how to properly make an impression, a postage paid return shipping label (U.S. Customers Only), a box to return your newly made impression, a FREE mouthguard carrying case, and a FREE Boil & Bite GAMEguard to be worn while your PEPguard Mouthguard is being created.
How to Use the Self-Impression (S-IS) Kit with Additional Bite Registration
This important first step is how Sportsguard Laboratories will get a impression of your teeth from which we will make your custom fit mouthguard from.
After completing these instructions, you will have a dental mold(s) that will be returned to us, using the provided pre-paid shipping box (U.S. Customers Only). From your impression(s), a form-fitting mouthguard will be produced and shipped back to you. You should receive your mouthguard in 2 – 3 weeks. If you have questions or problems, please contact customer service.
IMPORTANT: Please place the Impression Putty in the refrigerator for 15 minutes before starting the impression process. Do not use with braces, removable dental appliances, or loose teeth. Do not use if room temperature is greater than 80° F (25° C).
CAUTION: Exercise caution when boiling water. Adult supervision is recommended for children under 18 years of age.
Note: For lower jaw impressions please flip mouthguard tray to make impression.

Step 1
Have the athlete try on the mouthguard tray. If the tray is too long, trim with scissors using the slots in the tray.

Step 2
Bring water to a boil, then remove from heat. Place the dental tray in the hot water for 30 seconds.

Step 3
Rinse in cool water for
one second.

Step 4
Place in mouth and bite down firmly. Use your fingers to push the tray against your teeth and gums. Remove tray and rinse in cold water.

Step 5
After the tray completely dries, open the two colored impression putty and knead the two putties together until they become a uniform color (approx 30 sec).

Step 6
After kneading, roll the putty into a sausage shape and place enough material into the tray to fill it.

Step 7
Place tray with putty into mouth and bite down firmly until you contact the tray. (Turn upside down for lower jaw impression) Pull your lips over the front of the tray. Hold in mouth until the putty becomes firm (approx 2 1/2 - 3 min).

Step 8
Remove from mouth. A good impression should include all the teeth and extend to the gum tissue above the teeth. If impression of teeth does not look sufficient contact us.

Step 9
Rinse in warm water. Once completely set (approx 5 min), return it back to the bag. Place into the labeled box and mail.
Additional Bite Registration
In addition to the Self-Impression System instructions, please follow these steps. The completed impression will have registered the alignment of your upper and lower teeth on each side of the mouthguard tray.

Step 1
Use the white mouthguard tray with the impression putty to make an imprint of your upper and lower teeth.

Step 2
Mix the two impression putties until they become uniform in color (approx 30 sec).

Step 3
After mixing, divide putty in half and roll into sausage shapes. Place one half of the putty on one side of the tray.

Step 4
Place the other half on the opposite side. There is a mesh that separates each side. The notched side of the tray goes up.

Step 5
Place tray with putty into mouth. Bite down firmly through the putty until your teeth contact each other or the tray. Hold in mouth until the putty becomes firm (approx 2 1/2 - 3 min).

Step 6
Rinse in warm water. Once completely set (approx 5 min), return it to the bag. Place this bite registration and the S-IS impression into the labeled box and mail.
All of the Sportsguard Mouthguards utilize PolyShok™ high performance polymer technology.
PolyShok™ is a proprietary blend of plastic designed specifically for athletic mouthguards. It has the unique properties of being able to form to the mouth at low temperatures. This means, the mouthguard is softer, resulting in greater comfort, better breathability and absorbing more destructive force.
PolyShok™ has been A.S.T.M. (American Standards in Testing and Measurements) tested to be over 150% more shock absorbent than leading traditional mouthguard (Ethyl Vinyl Acetate) materials. These results are reproducible in any A.S.T.M. certified lab in the country. Ultimately PolyShok™ transmits less pressure to the teeth, jaw and brain when it receives a concussive blow, better than other athletic mouthguards.
